Under Construction once again.

Well I'm back!
So much has happened since last year and I'm ready to tell you all what I've been up to. I apologize for not posting in a while but I've been extremely busy and with the future posts you will see how I've been busy.

Look out for future posts in the next couple of weeks after I re-construct my blog. :)

SHOW LOVE

HEY GUYS!!

So I know this is LONG overdue but I must tell you all about my experience at LG’s 10th Annual Fashion Week 2009. It was my first year volunteering but not my last. I remember when I had first received the email saying that I got the volunteer position. I was truly excited. This was my first step to getting experience within my field. Although, it wasn’t specifically doing PR, it was a great way to network within the crowd as well as work on my skills. I had met a lot of great people and became great friends with other volunteers. What tasks had I done? Well one of the less glamorous tasks was catering! I had to cater to those of the VIP Area. Also I had to clean after all guests by clearing out all empty glasses from the Fashion Environment. Fashion Environment was the area where special events took place. Guests were able to mingle, drink, and wait until the next runway was about to start as well as watch Jeanne Beker from Fashion Television, conduct her interviews with several designers and celebrities. One task that I had enjoyed very much was being security on a small scale at this VIP area; this was probably the best area to be at. This is where the networking had begun. I had met a lot of people and got a few business cards at this one spot. Other tasks included assisting guests when needed, providing all guests with calendars, welcomed all guests, media and sponsors, and directed guests to runway shows, and other studio tents. Overall, Fashion Week had been a great experience and I had learned so much, not to mention I got a hug from Glen Baker (so handsome!). I can’t wait until next year to volunteer for the L’Oreal/LG Fashion Week once again. :)

Profile Please.

Now that I have started my blog, I thought I’d share a little bit about myself. I live in Toronto, and it’s been a blast living in the city, I definitely would be too bored living in a small town when there’s so much to do in a great city! I am currently attending York University working towards my Honours BA along with my Business Fundamentals Certificate in Business and Society. From there, I will apply to Ryerson for Graduate Studies and obtain my Public Relations Certificate. But I am still debating going to University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Business for PR.

When I was young I had always wanted to be a singer. Didn’t we all? But it was during my economics class in grade 12 that I had realized I wanted to get into PR. Public Relations is such a large field in which you can do absolutely everything, there’s so much to explore. And that is what I am currently doing, exploring the world of PR. I’m not sure what exactly I want to do in PR but it must be within the fashion/media industry. I have a great passion for fashion! It would be a great dream to do PR within a fashion magazine, or a fashion label, well really ANYTHING in fashion! It’s a very competitive field, but I think if I put all I’ve got I can make it happen. It starts off as a dream, but it’s in your hands to make it reality. I am always optimistic, which is quite funny because my bestest friend Julia is the very opposite, but I think we balance each other out. I’ve never been doubtful over anything, I think. Even during exams, all my friends were stressing but although I was worried as well, studying my butt off (well sometimes) I was always in a relaxed manner. I know my education is up to me, and I have to learn from my mistakes, that’s why if I were to get a good or bad mark, that’s for me to decide, I have to face the consequences there’s no one else to blame. Although I do tend to blame it on my parents for always distracting me hehe. But there is never a DEADEND. That’s what we must realize, we all screw up at times but we can fix it and WILL fix it.

Anyways, enough of the encouragement talk.

The next post will be about my experience with Toronto’s Fashion Week ;)

FINALLY!

I have finally started my blog!

Well I started it a few months ago, but of course school got in the way but I am finally done school and can now focus on this.

Blogging? Why do people blog? It’s become the new ‘social media’ as PR’s say. I find it quite neat to have a place to express yourself where other people are able to comment on what you say, and they can be very helpful at times. Blogging to me is exactly that, it’s a way for me to express myself and to help others in the specific field I want to get into which is Public Relations (PR). I thought I could start blogging about the different steps I take to get closer to my career. I thought this would be helpful for other students like myself, who ask many professionals within the PR industry, how to start working towards their careers, which volunteer positions to sign up for, which internships to get, etc. So the many posts I will write will be about different positions I have signed up for that will get me the experience I need to get into PR within the fashion/media industry.

Along with these posts, I may even write a few things that are on my mind such as what’s going on with Blair and Chuck from gossip girl? I am so happy that they are finally together! Cannot wait for the third season as well as the fifth season of the Hills, Kristin is sure making herself very comfortable with the cast and isn’t holding anything back. I hope you all will enjoy the future posts of my blog.

Stay tuned =)
